The Esterházy family's private collection can deservedly be counted among the most important aristocratic treasuries of the Baroque period, and it is the only Hungarian aristocratic collection of this period which survived the vicissitudes of later centuries largely intact. The Museum of Applied Arts, together with the Esterházy Privatstiftung of Eisenstadt, will for the first time present the two parts of the collection in a joint exhibition. The exhibition will include about 130 objects: goldsmith works, jewellery and ceremonial weapons, luxurious textiles and costumes, as well as large-scale portraits of Esterházy family members.
